Education:

Master’s degree in Special Education.

Reports to:

Director, Pupil Services and Early Childhood.

Supervises:

Teachers, Tutors, Aides, and others as assigned.

Job Goal:

Work with school districts to provide students with disabilities appropriate special education services.

Qualifications

License or eligibility for an educational administrator license.

Three years of teaching experience in special education.

Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, other relevant software).

Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Ability to promote positive internal and external customer relations.

Alternatives approved by the Governing Board.

Performance Responsibilities

Assist local schools with identifying and providing appropriate special education services and supports.

Assist intervention specialists with classroom instruction and management.

Keep abreast of developments in special education and disseminate information to specialists, local administrators and central office staff.

Observe intervention specialists and students to recommend instructional techniques, placement, programming and intervention.

Participate in conferences with school personnel, parents, and agencies to determine appropriateness of placement and delivery of services.

Provide coordination of multi‑district cooperative special education programming.

Maintain and communicate student data to EMIS coordinator, district personnel and Pupil Services Director.

Develop and maintain credit worksheets; proof report cards before distribution.

Supervise instructional staff, including recruiting, interviewing, performance reviews and assignment determinations.

Recruit, interview, assign, monitor and evaluate classroom aides in coordination with the program instructor.

Consult local districts to ensure programs align with state and federal guidelines and support document development.

Consult personnel on due process and procedural safeguards for students with disabilities.

Assist intervention specialists with resource identification that improves instructional programs.

Consult on materials and equipment selection.

Plan, organize and conduct professional development for all relevant personnel and parents.

Conduct Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) evaluations per CBA and ORC 3319.111; 3319.112.

Post positions, interview and assign candidates for special education positions in multi‑district cooperative classrooms.

Monitor department purchasing and recommend purchases to the Director of Pupil Services.

Maintain a log of time spent on duties.

Review Student Data Entry (SDE) system for completeness and accuracy for Excess Cost calculations.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
