REPORTS TO
Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 middle school endorsement
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing special education
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively work with administrators, teachers and parents
Strong knowledge of secondary curriculum
Strong organizational skills
Strong problem solving skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff
Work under the direction of the building principal
Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs
Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identifiedstudents including behavior intervention plans
Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of studentssexperiencing learning or behavioral problems
Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts
Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload
EFFECTIVE DATE
First contractual day of the 2026-2027
