
Cutting Technician

The Cutting Operator is responsible for safely and accurately cutting materials according to production requirements and specifications. This position supports the daily workflow of the cutting department by operating machinery, inspecting materials, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks. The Cutting Operator contributes to overall production efficiency and helps maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Essential Functions
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate cutting machinery and tools safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
Review work orders, blueprints, and job specifications to determine cutting requirements.
Measure, mark, and align materials for accurate cuts.
Inspect materials and finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy.
Assist in material handling, staging, and movement within the department.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the Cutting Lead or Supervisor.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Support production goals by completing tasks on schedule and assisting team members as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.
Experience operating cutting equipment such as saws, shears, or plasma cutters.
Basic understanding of material handling and production flow.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and measuring tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to perform basic math and measurements accurately.
Preferred
Experience with CNC or automated cutting equipment.
Basic computer skills for work order entry or tracking.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Understanding of safe operating procedures for machinery and material handling.
Ability to read and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and job instructions.
Good communication skills and teamwork orientation.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to identify and report quality or safety concerns promptly.
