Graduate Assistant for Welder Library
The University of Mary is seeking applications for a Library Graduate Assistant for Welder Library. The Graduate Assistant will work twenty hours per week, including evening shifts.

Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

Close the library as scheduled; it will include evening shifts usually from 5pm to 10pm.

Handles circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out, renewing and returning library materials.

Provide reference services to students and faculty in the absence of library staff.

Direct student workers in absence of library staff.

Assist with various archive projects which include scanning pictures, cataloging building plans, etc.

Assist with interlibrary loan requests.

Manage the library’s Instagram account.

Create displays and manage the March Madness monthly event.

Data entry into Desktracker.

Other duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.

Must meet eligibility requirements for admission to graduate studies at the University of Mary.

Able to work independently and with a team of colleagues.

Working knowledge in the use of library databases, Microsoft Office Suite applications, Canvas and Instagram.

A background in business, history, public history, library, and information science and/or archival experience is preferred.

Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

Supports the ongoing implementation Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.

Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Academic Affairs and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), creativity, and human relation skills.

Expertise in most aspects of the library’s automated and online catalog systems.

Good work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
