The Frederick M. Smith Library at Graceland University in Lamoni, IA is seeking an Interlibrary Loan Library Assistant. This appointment is a full‑time, 12 month position. The Interlibrary Loan Library Assistant will oversee the ILL process and support of the library’s physical and digital resources under the direct supervision of the Library Director. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and some library experience is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

Acquisitions: Assist the Library Director in selecting library resources and managing contracts with vendors (those who provide access to our databases) for library goods and services.

Cataloging: Catalogs new library materials using Koha.

Technical Processing: Trains student workers in the technical processing of library resources and materials.

Serials Management: Orders, maintains, and organizes serials in physical, digital, and microfilm formats. Oversees the processing of all serials.

Information Services: Provides support to students and faculty in accessing all databases, digital repositories, and library websites. Ensures timely access to all digital resources via OpenAthens.

Interlibrary Loan: Manages the interlibrary loan operations of Graceland University Libraries through OCLC.

Library Subject Guides: Helps create and maintain all library subject guides. These subject guides allow easy access to library materials for students.

Vendor Relations: Works with the Director of University Libraries to discuss products and purchase of resources with vendors.

Nursing Reference: Serves as a contact for all nursing students and faculty regarding research questions and assistance.

Reporting: Provides up‑to‑date and on‑demand statistics regarding physical resource processing and digital resource use and access.

Library Instruction: Provides training for students and community users on using the library catalog, electronic databases, and other platforms as needed.

Government Documents: Maintains the digital government document repository on the library webpage and will begin the process of weeding the physical government document collection.
