Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring our employees work safely and that all employees have a safe place to work. Quality is second. The Supervisor must endeavor to provide our customers with the highest quality products possible in a consistent and timely manner. Finally, the Supervisor should ensure employees are productive and efficient in performing their job duties. Sumter Metal Products needs safety, quality, and productivity to remain competitive and successful.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This is a 1st shift onsite role in Sumter, SC.
Ensure employee training is documented and effective for the machines they operate.
Direct employees in the performance of work duties, communicate work requirements and make staffing decisions in placement of employees to meet production needs.
Strong computer skills. Experience preferred in SAP, Excel, Word, and Outlook email.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations as outlined by local, state, federal and corporate policies.
Lead EOS initiatives and ensure gains are sustained. Audit, monitor, and correct.
Instruct, counsel, and identify work requirements for employees and assure company goals and objections are met on a timely basis
Educate employees on proper 5S practices and monitor their effort
Must work 9 hours daily, cover weekends and coverage of supervisor’s vacation or other short notice requirements. Time outside of 9 hours daily is paid at straight time.
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Handle employee directions and disciplinary issues in a professional manner
Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of college education
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a production environment, preferably in a metal fabrication environment
Experience in welding, cutting, and fitting of metal a plus
Capability of interpreting shop drawings and using measuring instruments
Knowledge of quality practices and random inspection audits of workflow
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of production requirements with accountabilities and measurements for plant and departmental goals along with quality.
Ability to communicate (orally and written) in a professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors and customers.
Competent computer skills to perform essential functions.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Number of employees to supervise: Up to 50 hourly
