Montana State University invites experienced finance professionals to the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship faculty as Instructors, delivering high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek dedicated professionals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and can collaborate effectively with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will contribute to student success and academic excellence while supporting the mission of Montana State University through engaging, real-world finance education. Instructional assignments are contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funding.
Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the pool for up to two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to resubmit their application materials for continued consideration. Application materials will be reviewed by the appropriate search committee or hiring authority, and applicants will be notified if they are being considered for an open position. Non-tenure-track appointments may be part-time or full-time and vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate finance courses in on-campus and/or online formats, ensuring high-quality, engaging instruction.
Incorporate real-world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of financial principles and practices.
Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in finance education to maintain course relevance.
Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in finance or a closely related field.
Preferred:
PhD in finance or a closely related field.
Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance.
Industry certifications such as CFA, CFP, CMA, CVA, etc.
Knowledge of current industry trends and practices in areas such as financial markets, commercial banking, insurance and risk management, real estate finance, personal finance, investments, corporate finance, and derivative securities.

Position Details
Position Type: Non-Tenure Track Faculty – Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the AFMSU; less than .5 FTE is not represented by the Union.
Union affiliation and representational status may be impacted by changes in FTE or other conditions.
Salary: commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
Appointment Type: Non-Tenure Track (Pooled); Contract Term: Academic Year; Fall or Spring; FTE varies.
