JOB TITLE:
Adaptive Behavior Aide
REPORTS TO:
Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS:
Nonexempt
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist alternative education teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED and meet one of the following qualifications:
Associate’s Degree (or higher); or
Completion of 48 semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education; or
Obtained an academic assessment from a previous school district meeting a rigorous standard of quality
Educational Aide II Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work well with special needs children.
Experience:
One-year experience working with children preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist alternative education teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignment
Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
Help alternative education teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the alternative education teacher
Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
Assist in the classroom or other offices when needed
Perform all other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS
Moderate lifting, carrying, standing, stopping, and bending.
