Job Summary
Work with students to develop the skills of mathematical reasoning and thinking that are fundamental to effective mathematical problem solving and communication via speaking and writing; to motivate students to use mathematics in everyday life; to develop standards for critical judgment of math problems and concepts; and to discover and develop special talents of students in the field of Mathematics.
Salary
Per the FHEA Master Agreement Salary Schedule.

Beginning with the 2026-2027 School Year.
Qualifications
State of Michigan Teacher Certification required
EX or EQ endorsement required
NR endorsement preferred or evidence of content knowledge and skills along with holding an endorsement for the grade level at which the course is offered
Essential Job Functions
Ability to successfully educate students on state and district standards for mathematics.
Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with the district-provided curriculum.
Use relevant technology to support instruction.
Implement strategies to enhance the understanding of mathematical ideas, concepts, and to develop the ability to utilize mathematics in everyday life through real-world applications.
Assess students' proficiency levels and adapt instruction accordingly.
Select textbooks and instructional aids appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students, maintain required inventory records.
Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
Foster respect and understanding among students of all backgrounds.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
Administer assessments to measure students' proficiency and track their progress over time.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices. Must meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state.
Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
Develop standards for critical analysis through group discussions based on a variety of math problems and concepts.
Adhere to FERPA regulations and district policy when working with confidential data.
Consistent and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust/focus.
