Job Description:

The College Place School District is accepting applications for a Summer Program High School Paraeducator. This role will be posted for internal and external consideration. Interested internal candidates must apply online by 4:00 pm Tuesday, April 21, 2026, to be considered prior to external candidates.

Responsibilities

Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to practice and reinforce learning concepts and support students in reaching academic goals.

Guide students in independent study activities to ensure student success.

Maintain classroom resources, work area, student files/records and adapt instructional materials.

Monitor students in various settings to identify required assistance and ensure a safe learning environment.

Perform record keeping and clerical functions such as copying, correcting papers, completing attendance verifications and documenting observations and incidents.

Respond to emergency situations involving injured students or conflicts.

Support classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and teaching methodologies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

18 years of age or older.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Meet the Washington State Paraeducator Minimum Employment requirements by showing evidence of one of the following:
Associate degree; or

At least 72 quarter or 48 semester credits of 100 level courses or higher; or

Pass the ETS Para-Pro Assessment with a score of 461 or higher (applicable fees paid by applicant).

Background check through Washington State Patrol as required by RCW 43.43.830 (applicable fees paid by applicant).

Completion of Safe Schools Web‑Based Training at hire.

Effective oral and written communication in English with correct grammar and spelling.

Ability to learn and apply new skills.

Skills in organization and time management.

Flexibility and good judgment.

Ability to interact positively and confidentially with individuals from diverse linguistic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Ability to implement educational programs and manage student behavior under direction of certificated staff.

Ability to remain composed in high‑stress situations with students exhibiting aggression or non‑compliance.

Willingness to complete training on restraint and/or de‑escalation as required.

Ability to work effectively and collegially with staff, community, and students.

Additional Skills
Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful.

Working Conditions

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.

Lifting up to 40 lbs about 5% of the workday.

Approximately 55% of the workday standing, reaching, bending, stooping, walking; 40% sitting.

Temperature variations indoor and outdoor.

Interaction with students displaying aggression or conduct problems.
