Job Summary
The athletic coach is responsible for developing and executing athletic programs that foster student‑athletes' skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This coach will provide instruction, leadership, and support to the team while promoting the physical, emotional, and social development of each student‑athlete.
Annual Stipend Amount
Fall Season - $2163 / Winter Season - $2163
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree preferred).
Previous coaching experience or significant playing experience.
Ability to teach and demonstrate sport techniques and strategies effectively.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with and motivate school-aged students.
Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
Strong understanding of the sport rules and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Team Development
Plan and conduct daily practices, drills, and training sessions to improve individual and team skills.
Develop game strategies and ensure they are communicated effectively to players.
Assess and evaluate players' skills, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline among players.
Teach rules, techniques, and strategies in an engaging and supportive environment.
Team Management
Organize and manage team rosters, uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
Promote positive relationships among players, coaching staff, and parents.
Maintain clear and open communication with players and their families regarding schedules, expectations, and team activities.
Schedule and attend games, tournaments, and team-building events.
Safety and Well‑being
Ensure a safe environment for players during practices, games, and travel.
Maintain first aid certification and be prepared to handle any injuries.
Monitor players' physical and mental health, ensuring proper rest and recovery.
Administrative Responsibilities
Assist with organizing and coordinating team logistics such as transportation, scheduling, and equipment needs.
Maintain attendance records and other documentation as required.
Represent the school or team at relevant meetings or functions.
Community Involvement
Promote sport program through school events and other channels.
Build positive relationships with other coaches, school staff, and the community.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
