Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with general education staff, support personnel, and families to provide individualized instruction and services that meet the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Provide direct instruction and support aligned to student goals

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

Collaborate with teachers, aides, and related service providers

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians

Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations

Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement

Strong knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices

Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Salary & Benefits

Starting Salary: $45,000 – $62,000 (based on experience and education)

Board-Paid Insurance: Up to $835 per month

Participation in the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System (TRS)
