Special Education Teacher
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to provide instructional support and services to students with disabilities. This position is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and supports to promote academic and behavioral success.
Primary Purpose
Provide special education services to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education certification
Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements
Special Knowledge / Skills
Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and modifications
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
Ability to collect and analyze student data
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
Experience in a special education classroom or inclusion setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instruction & IEP Implementation
Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with ARD committee members
Provide direct instruction and support aligned with student goals
Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with TEA and IDEA requirements
Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and provide required reportsEnsure all services are delivered as outlined in student IEPs
Student Support & Behavior Management
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed
Support students' academic, social, and behavioral development
Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment
Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and specialists
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress
Work with campus staff to support inclusive practices
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in professional development and required trainings
Support campus and district initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting students
Ability to assist with student mobility if required
Work in a structured classroom environment, which may include high‑needs settings
