The purpose of this Teacher position is to provide instructional support by supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering group and individual instruction, collaborating with professional staff and administrators, and communicating with parents regarding instructional program and student progress.

Essential Functions

Administer developmental testing programs and subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.

Advise parents about student progress, communication of expectations, achievement, and methods for improvement.

Assess student progress toward objectives and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.

Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.

Counsel students on performance, health, problem‑solving techniques, and personal issues.

Demonstrate pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual needs.

Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials tailored to individualized learning within established lesson plans.

Direct assistants, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to deliver an effective classroom program.

Facilitate student learning to achieve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.

Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.

Manage student behavior and maintain a safe, optimal learning environment.

Monitor students in classroom, playground, field trips, and other educational environments to ensure safety and positivity.

Organize age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for student participation in learning.

Participate in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.

Participate in meetings (staff, district, IEPs, 504s) to convey or gather necessary information.

Prepare written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.

Report health and safety issues to administrators and relevant agencies to maintain student safety and comply with regulations.

Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.

Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc., providing information and direction.

Other Functions

Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Skill-based competencies include applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment and software, teaching Arizona State‑recognized standards, and maintaining accurate records.

Knowledge-based competencies include algebra and geometry, reading technical information, composing documents, facilitating group discussions, identifying codes and regulations, planning age‑appropriate activities, lesson‑plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.

Ability-based competencies include scheduling activities and meetings, collecting and collating data, operating job‑related equipment, adapting to changing priorities, maintaining confidentiality, exhibiting tact and patience, and working flexible hours.

Responsibilities
Work under limited supervision using standardized practices; direct others within a small work unit; utilize resources from other units as needed.

Work Environment
Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. Typical activity distribution: 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing. Temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness may be present.

Experience and Education
Job‑related experience is desired.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a job‑related area.

Qualifications
Arizona Teaching Certificate, Core Content Area certification, and SEI Endorsement; Criminal background clearance and Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

EQUIVALENCY
Required Testing, Certificates and Licenses: Arizona Teaching Certificate; Other Certifications: Core Content Area, SEI Endorsement; Continuing Education/Training; Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance, Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
