Job Description

Title:

Early Childhood Education or Preschool Teacher—File 309
Reports to:

Assigned administrator/supervisor
Job Objective:

Plans and implements the assigned instructional program.
Responsibilities

Maintain in-depth knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and evidence‑based practices to improve student participation and achievement.
Participate in observations and assessments of qualifying factors to determine student placements and contribute to screening activities related to Child Find requirements.
Maintain student files, ensuring medical and emergency authorization forms are current and readily available.
Develop lesson plans aligned with state learning standards and district curriculum goals.
Prepare drafts and final Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that are legally compliant.
Implement teaching strategies that match students’ learning styles and use formative and summative assessments to track progress and provide timely feedback.
Assist students in setting specific, relevant, measurable, and attainable educational goals.
Promote inclusion by applying inclusive assessment strategies and providing opportunities for students to explore personal interests.
Advocate for students and promote access to inclusive educational opportunities.
Use positive behavioral support techniques to manage disruptive behavior and help students make good decisions.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and families.
Maintain effective document and records management systems, ensuring accurate, timely files and compliance with retention policies.
Ensure lesson plans and materials are available for substitute teachers.
Develop professional relationships with co‑workers and function as part of a cohesive team.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to work schedules.
Respect privacy and keep confidential information secure.
Stay current with professional standards and technology relevant to duties.
Follow emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and anti‑harassment policies.
Perform additional duties as directed to support district goals.
Qualifications

Holds required Ohio Department of Education credentials for Preschool Education.
Intervention Specialist endorsement preferred.
Acts in accordance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Demonstrates high‑performance standards such as engagement, proficiency, and resilience.
Completes required trainings (e.g., blood‑borne pathogens, child abuse
eglect, communicable diseases, CPR, first aid, non‑violent crisis intervention).
