Qualifications
1. Kentucky Teaching Certificate for Middle School Secondary Certification. If endorsements for subject taught, or grades 1-8 certification.
2. Such additional qualifications as the superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goals:
To create a unique educational environment focusing on the special needs of middle school students in order to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of each student.
Responsibilities – Specific to Teaching Area
Actively involve students in the learning process;
Use a variety of teaching techniques/learning strategies appropriate to the needs of students in the middle school;
Display teacher empathy, rapport, and personal interaction with the students;
Provide a positive and inviting classroom atmosphere;
Fulfilling the guidance and counseling role of the teacher;
Allow a variety of learning styles;
Employ various teaching styles (including modeling assignments);
Reinforce good behavior more than punishing poor behavior;
Prepare thoroughly for each objective‑based lesson or activity and give frequent feedback on progress;
Utilize a sense of humor;
Cooperate with other professionals;
Communicate clearly and constructively with students, parents, and staff;
Display a thorough knowledge of the developmental characteristics of boys and girls in the middle school and its effect on physical, soci‑emotional, and cognitive realms;
Maintain a strong subject matter background and refer lesson application to other areas beyond his own;
Perform such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the principal or the superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and Board.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
