Job Description
Three Rivers School District is hiring a temporary licensed Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-27 school year at Lincoln Savage Middle School. The teacher will provide instructional services in a classroom setting, promote student learning, maintain discipline, and collaborate with staff, parents, and students. The role requires a valid Oregon teaching license with a Social Studies endorsement and is open to bilingual and biliterate candidates.

Qualifications

Valid State of Oregon Teaching License with Social Studies endorsement.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Effective communication and interaction with students, parents, and diverse school personnel.

Proficient oral and written communication in at least one language; two preferred.

Proficient use of computer and internet‑based applications (e.g., email, Google Apps).

Ability to learn new systems as implemented by the district.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of student and district information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.

Complete required online training, CPR/First Aid, and other district training.

Maintain current licenses and certifications.

Follow district policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.

Build and maintain relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Create a classroom environment that fosters effective learning and high achievement.

Plan a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities.

Assist in selecting curriculum, equipment, and instructional materials.

Design and implement instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards.

Organize instruction using learning objectives and defined student outcomes.

Select teaching strategies that emphasize student involvement and engagement.

Develop clear classroom behavioral expectations.

Prepare report cards, progress reports, and conduct conferences with students, parents/guardians, and staff.

Collaborate with staff on instructional goals, curriculum, and methods (e.g., PLC, Site Council).

Ensure safe handling of equipment, materials, and student safety.

Participate in district professional development.

Attend work regularly, be punctual, and meet attendance requirements.

Attend staff meetings and serve as substitute when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise and direct the work of educational assistants and/or teacher aides. All school employees share responsibility for supervising students and maintaining a safe environment.

Physical Demands
Job requires talking or hearing, frequent walking, standing, sitting, fine manipulation with hands, occasional stooping or crouching, occasional lifting or moving up to 50 lbs, and vision requirements for close and distance tasks.

Work Environment
Standard classroom and stage settings with moderate to occasional high noise levels. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
