We’re looking for a
Transformer Test Technician III
with hands‑on experience in transformer testing and repair who’s ready to support mission‑critical power projects across the U.S. This field‑based role focuses on performing and documenting advanced electrical tests and troubleshooting for a wide range of OEM transformers. You’ll work independently or as part of a crew to ensure reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do:
Perform transformer testing and troubleshooting, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, and Core Ground
Support passivation testing and verification of transformer accessories
Test alarms and system protections in transformers
Troubleshoot control wiring issues and support repair efforts
Follow OEM, utility, and end-user testing specifications
Accurately document test results and generate customer reports
Operate industrial and construction equipment safely
Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment
Adhere to all company safety and environmental protocols (especially spill containment)
Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas
The Experience We’re Looking For:
5–10 years of experience in transformer testing or services
Prior experience with transformer oil work and assembly (including degassing and oil processing)
Strong understanding of Load Tap Changers
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic digital platforms
Ability to read technical drawings, scopes, and wiring diagrams
Experience preparing units for disposal following environmental standards
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver’s license
Must successfully complete a background check and pre‑employment/random drug tests
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Available for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments
Bonus Points for:
Extensive experience with Power Factor, SFRA, TTR, and other diagnostic tests
Test software familiarity and reporting systems
Previous leadership or mentorship in field testing crews
OEM or utility‑side testing documentation experience
Class A CDL
OSHA and TWIC certifications
