Responsibilities
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

Provides protection for the work activities of other parties engaged in work on the railroad right of way by performing safety briefings and issuing instructions to these parties coordinating this work with the Authority's Train Operations Contractor, communicating by radio with train operators to authorize train movement through work area, observing railroad tracks for approaching trains, issuing audible warnings to workers concerning the approach of trains, directing the discontinuance of specific work practices until after train(s) have passed work location, observing work practices of the other parties, observing the workplace for unsafe conditions, and installing and removing temporary signs for the control of train movements.

Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

A minimum of one year experience as a Track Flagger/RWIC or Track Repair Leader preferred.

Knowledge of the safe and proper procedures for operating railroad maintenance hand and power tools and railroad maintenance equipment.

Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate in written and verbal English language with prior record keeping experience.

Must possess strong leadership interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of FTSS and FRWS and the ability to be Qualified on AUTHORITY's examinations for 49 CFR Part 213.7 of FTSS and the GCOR related to these regulations at the Start Date.

Previously qualified with a railroad to provide workplace protection under FRWS and to inspect track and supervise restoration of track under FTSS.

Knowledge of the physical layout and operation of the Authority rail system.

Knowledge of the time for completion and the cost of repair for track and right-of-way facilities, and the ability to make value judgments regarding economic repair and/or replacement of these facilities.

Ability to inspect track and supervise the work of others for compliance of FRA.

Ability to complete work under time pressures and to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations.

Ability to perform scheduled and unscheduled repair or construction work at any time on any day of the week.

Company provides required Personal Protective Equipment including a Safety Boots Allowance Program.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.

Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.

Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

Regularly lift weight up to 20 pounds up to a height of 36 inches.

Regularly carry weight up to 20 pounds for a distance up to 100 feet.

Regularly ascend/descend a truck step with a height up to 24 inches.

Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.

Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.

Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1/2 mile.

Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.

Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.

Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.

Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.

Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
