Job Description: Assistant Coach

General Duties
Support the Pilot Rock School District’s athletic mission and Athletic Code. Extracurricular activities are viewed as vital to student development—physically, intellectually, and socially. Coaches are expected to organize and lead athletic programs aligned with school goals and student needs.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in or knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Completion of OSAA-required trainings (e.g., Concussion Management)
Successful fingerprint and background check
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Competence in supervising students during practices, events, and travel
Confidentiality in dealing with student and district matters
Basic computer and internet application proficiency
Sound judgment and the ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Model respectful and professional behavior
Complete required annual trainings by the assigned due date
Report absences according to district protocol
Use district systems for communication and documentation
Support the head coach and implement the team’s system of play
Enforce athletic policies and recommend improvements
Attend required meetings and professional development sessions
Actively supervise students at all times (games, practices, locker rooms, travel)
Maintain knowledge of sport-specific techniques, rules, and strategies
Follow injury reporting procedures
Manage and care for athletic equipment and uniforms
Communicate respectfully with athletes, officials, parents, and others
Promote sportsmanship and positive behavior
Meeting with athletes and families to outline expectations
Collaborate with the head coach and athletic director on logistics and budgeting
Encourage school and community enthusiasm for the athletic program
Teach fundamentals and skills appropriate to the sport
Maintain facility cleanliness and report any safety concerns
Assist with inventory and make equipment recommendations
Attend and participate in the year-end athletic banquet
Report safety concerns or misconduct within 24 hours
Perform other duties as assigned
Workplace Expectations

Be punctual, dependable, and professional in all duties
Demonstrate positive interactions with students, staff, and the community
Maintain confidentiality and care for district property
Communicate concerns with administration appropriately
