About the Role
As an
Tutor
at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Details
In-Person Tutoring in Carson, CA
Schedule: 6 hours per month, 1x a week at 1hr 30mins per session
Pay range is between $25 and $35
Ideal Candidate
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
Experience working with students with autism and learning differences
Background supporting elementary students performing below grade level (Grades 1–3)
Strong understanding of foundational literacy skills, including reading comprehension and early decoding
Experience teaching foundational math skills, including number sense, basic operations, and word problems
Ability to support comprehension across multiple subject areas
Skilled in breaking down concepts into clear, manageable steps
Patient, encouraging, and able to support students who may become frustrated or emotional
Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to guide instruction
Key Responsibilities
Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current academic levels and learning needs
Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including reading comprehension and early reading skills
Support comprehension across content areas using guided reading, discussion, and visual supports
Deliver math instruction focused on foundational skills, problem-solving, and word problems
Reinforce functional academic skills through real-world applications and structured practice
Break down tasks into small, manageable steps to support understanding and reduce frustration
Implement structured sessions with clear routines, expectations, and frequent check-ins for understanding
Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to support emotional regulation and engagement
Incorporate student interests (e.g., animals, nature, human body topics) to increase motivation
Maintain a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment
Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs
Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
