About the Role

As a Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one‑on‑one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Details

In‑Person Tutoring in Glendale, CA
Schedule: 10 hours a month, 2 sessions per week for 1.15 hrs
Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
Ideal Candidate

Experience working with middle school students with IEPs and learning differences
Strong background in English Language Arts, including reading comprehension and writing development
Experience supporting writing skills such as sentence formation, organization, and paragraph development
Solid understanding of Algebra 1 and foundational math concepts
Ability to teach step‑by‑step problem‑solving using visual aids and manipulatives
Experience supporting History/social studies through summarization and concept‑based learning
Familiarity with ABA principles and behavior support strategies
Skilled in managing behaviors such as task avoidance, frustration, and elopement
Patient, structured, and consistent, with strong classroom management skills
Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to guide instruction
Key Responsibilities

Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current academic levels and needs
Provide targeted instruction in ELA, including reading comprehension, writing structure, and organization of ideas
Support writing development using graphic organizers, sentence starters, and modeled examples
Deliver math instruction in Algebra 1 and foundational concepts using step‑by‑step guidance and visual supports
Reinforce math skills through repetition, manipulatives, and real‑world applications
Support History learning by helping the student understand key concepts, summarize content, and make connections
Implement behavior support strategies using ABA‑informed practices, including positive reinforcement and clear expectations
Manage behaviors such as task avoidance, frustration, and elopement with calm, consistent redirection
Structure sessions with routines, breaks, and choices to maintain engagement
Build rapport and trust to support consistent participation and motivation
Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Communicate progress with caregivers and adjust strategies as needed
