If you are unfamiliar with these requirements, please seek the advice of legal counsel.**Job Title**Stormwater Quality Inspector I - C**Pay Rate Min to Mid Range**$21.79 - $25.61**Time Type**Full time**Summary**Under direct supervision, assist in meeting the Texas Center on Environmental Quality mandated requirements for the six minimum control measures of small municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4); of the Bexar County Storm Water Quality Program; be actively engaged in daily inspection of permitted storm water sites, providing inspections for illicit discharge detection and elimination; assistance to other field personnel in the permitting of construction sites; providing inspections of best management practices of construction sites; and performs related duties as required.**Duties and Responsibilities:*** Observes and inspects progress of construction projects* Ensures contractors and citizens are in compliance with Bexar County requirements for storm water permits within the Bexar County* Maintains daily log and progress reports on construction projects* Conducts field tests and obtains field soil and construction material samples for laboratory analysis

Inspects and verifies location of storm water pollution prevention plan (SW3P) measures on construction projects* Inspects and collects field information on the condition of best management practices (BMPs) to determine replacement and

/ or maintenance needs* Coordinates with and inspects work performed by utility companies regarding construction projects* Assists Storm Water Quality Inspector II in assessing, analyzing and making recommendations regarding various storm water quality related issues* Assists in final inspections of construction projects assigned* Performs related duties as required**Minimum Qualifications:*** Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year experience in the inspection of general building construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience* Knowledge of all phases of general building construction procedures to include materials, methods, plans and specifications; knowledge of utility specifications; knowledge of safety standards and practices; knowledge of proper best management practices* Ability to operate survey instruments; ability to read and interpret construction plans; ability to perform engineering calculations utilizing algebra, geometry and trigonometry; ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to operate basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, contractors and the general public* Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance* Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test* Must have valid Texas driver's license* Required to be on-call 24-hours a day* May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek**Working Conditions and Physical Demands:*** Constantly working in outdoor conditions with exposure to temperature variations* Occasional exposure to insects, insect and animal bites, flammable liquids, cramped work areas, dust, poisonous plants, oily surfaces, high noise areas, unfavorable fumes and vapors and hazardous chemicals* Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-25 pounds* Occasionally moves items weighing up to 50-100 pounds* Occasionally moves about the office* Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information* Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery* Positions self to perform essential functions* Must be able to remain in a stationary position**Working With Bexar County**Bexar County offers employees a competitive salary, retirement, and benefits.
