Job Description
Morenci Area Schools seeks an individual to fill our open varsity girls' basketball coaching position. Candidates must be exemplary role models (on and off the job), great teachers (of sport‑specific and general life skills), and effective communicators with players, parents, and the community.
Pay Rate
Per MEA Bargaining Agreement
Summary
Help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, understand the sport’s strategies, appreciate the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork, and increase self‑esteem.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of high school coaching experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport
Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Ability to work effectively with sports coaching staff, parents, and school staff
Preferred experience working with high school‑aged students
Previous successful coaching experience
Job Responsibilities
Comply with MHSAA rules/off‑season policies and district policies
Maintain consistent communication with the Athletic Director
Plan and execute well‑organized practices
Develop character, commitment, and confidence in student‑athletes
Maintain effective pre‑season and in‑season conditioning programs
Model exemplary behavior toward players, parents, opponents, and officials
Keep statistics for all games
Submit statistics to news affiliates
Collaborate with JV and MS coaches, communicating the vision and goals of the program
Participate in recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of other program coaches
Plan a summer youth camp
Plan summer team camp/events
Perform other duties assigned by the Athletic Director
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise assistant coaches
Supervise volunteers
Supervise student‑athletes in the sport
Supervise any students or persons associated with the sport
