Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four‑year college or university.
Elementary teaching certificate and must meet state requirements for “Highly Qualified.”
Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond to inquiries; write speeches and articles; deliver persuasive presentations.
Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning ability: Apply common sense to carry out instructions; deal with problems involving several variables.
Physical Demands
Regularly talk or hear; frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing or balancing; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjust focus.
Work Environment
Occasional work outside in variable weather conditions; moderate to loud noise level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils.
Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and district regulations.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction.
Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences.
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth; prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means.
Identify pupil needs; collaborate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
Create an effective learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Maintain professional competence through in‑service and self‑selected growth activities.
Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities.
Administer group standardized tests per district and state programs.
Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
Develop instructional material for pupils with varied mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
Provide individual and group instruction to help pupils transition to school.
Complete all paperwork, district and state education forms, timely.
Implement IEP by providing modifications and adaptations.
Perform other duties assigned by the administrator.
