Position Details
Position Type: Educational Aide (Kindergarten) – 10 month contract.
Location: R Wilson Elementary School.

Reports To
Campus Principal, Assistant Principal, or designated teacher.

Wage/Hour Status
Nonexempt. Pay Grade: IS 1.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Texas Education Agency paraprofessional educational aide certificate.

Experience working with children.

Ability to cooperate with others, follow directions, and work independently.

Computer/typing skills and/or willingness to learn.

Job Goal
The educational aide assists classroom teacher(s) in facilitating student achievement, contributing to overall educational system growth, and aiding each student in developing skills, acquiring knowledge, and achieving maximum potential.

Major Duties

Supervise small group student activities.

Conduct one‑on‑one instructional activities.

Perform clerical (instructional) activities for the classroom teacher.

Distribute and collect instructional material.

Assist in classroom management and supervision.

Set up and assist with listening stations and/or centers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Ability to work in variable environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.).

Possible travel by car, van, or bus; work alone or with others.

Physical ability to lift 10 lbs. or more and perform tasks such as talking, bending, kneeling, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running, and move with agility.

Assist students with toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, positioning, and seizure activity.

Knowledge of or ability to learn behavior management intervention techniques.

Maintain emotional control under stress.

Maintain confidentiality.

Cope with biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.

Communicate orally and in writing in English.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work cooperatively with co‑workers and supervisors.

Follow directives from principals, associate and assistant principals.
