Job Description
Title: Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Supervises: Paraprofessionals at times
Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt
Length of Contract: 190 days
Classification: Licensed
Hours: 7:50 am - 3:25 pm
Salary: $50,000 - $54,040 (includes $2,000 stipend for teaching Math or Science grades 5-12)

Primary Purpose
A teacher is responsible for educating students while holding the belief that every student deserves an education which provides rigor, encourages resilience, and fosters responsibility. They also facilitate a safe space to learn, where communication, collaboration and critical thinking are used to push their students to be their very best.

Qualifications
Education/ Certification: Bachelor's Degree, Arkansas Teacher’s License
Other Requirements:

Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines, and willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Well organized, committed, creative, energetic.

Strong moral values and discipline.

Arkansas Teaching License.

Any other requirement as listed by the Arkansas Department of Education.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Establish rules of behavior for students in the classroom, administrative regulations and Board Policy.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Prepare lessons, units and projects to achieve learning objectives and assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.

Prepare for instruction for each class.

Instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units and projects.

Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests, learning styles and capabilities of students.

Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and career paths.

Create, assign and grade various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects.

Work with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention.

Track and evaluate student academic progress.

Lead parent-teacher meetings.

Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors.

Manage student behavior.

Create and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.

Communicate regularly with parents.

Help students improve study methods and habits.

Administer assessments to evaluate students’ progress.

Attend and participate in professional, in-service, and faculty meetings.

Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.

Accept responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.

Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or lab assistants.

Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.

Job Requirements

Bachelor degree preferred.

Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
