
Wave Planner II

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Wave Planner is responsible for coordinating warehouse order allocation, work release, and real-time operational monitoring to support efficient inbound and outbound operations. This role ensures balanced workflow across departments, effective utilization of labor and equipment, and timely order fulfillment.
The Planner serves as a key liaison between operations, customer service, and leadership teams, combining wave planning responsibilities with control tower–style oversight to maintain service levels, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
Essential Functions:
Allocate and release orders to the warehouse floor to optimize productivity, interleaving, and carrier turn times.
Monitor inbound and outbound warehouse activity, inventory levels, and workflow in real time using WMS and related systems.
Balance labor and workload across departments to ensure efficient throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
Prioritize Lift Truck Operator (LTO) tasks in coordination with Dock Supervisors.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational disruptions such as product shortages, delayed orders, and workflow constraints; elevate issues as needed.
Manage order cuts and communicate effectively with customer service and internal teams regarding fulfillment challenges or delays.
Ensure accurate allocation of inventory to meet order requirements and maintain service standards.
Coordinate with customer service and operations teams to resolve order discrepancies and support timely fulfillment.
Monitor dock operations and ensure effective use of inbound and outbound scheduling and optimization tools.
Review and adjust order priorities and workflow queues to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.
Run, analyze, and report on labor productivity, service levels, and key operational KPIs; provide insights to leadership.
Troubleshoot system‑related issues impacting order flow, inventory allocation, or reporting accuracy.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce operational costs.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and operational procedures.
Train associates and supervisors on warehouse systems, planning tools, and best practices as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in warehouse operations, wave planning, inventory control, or logistics coordination preferred.
Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and warehouse operational processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and work in a deadline‑driven environment.
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Additional education or training in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations preferred
