Develop and implement DMVA policies and programs dedicated to cemetery operations. Performs the managerial work necessary to organize, direct, and conduct joint outreach programs with Federal, State, and Non-Profit agencies. Collaborate with DMVA stakeholders for budget planning and financial management for the state cemeteries. Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the state cemetery program. Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and government officials. Provides the Agency and Counties with publications, forms, and reference data. Provide information, interpret, and explain departmental rules, regulations, and procedures to state cemetery support staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* Experience with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to veterans' services and benefits. as well as a thorough knowledge of forms and procedures used in applying for benefits.* Considerable knowledge of the cemetery operations.* Demonstrated experience in supervising the work of subordinate personnel and possess the ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with fellow employees, service organizations, and the public.* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as the ability to plan and coordinate a variety of appointments, meetings and conferences.* Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.* Experience in interviewing and counseling individuals and groups on benefits as well as any training experience.**Minimum Education and Experience**Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
