Job Overview
Transportation Engineer 1 (TE1), Capital Programs, Cuyahoga County – Workforce Development and Transportation Services. The TE1 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program, which includes a 12‑month training plan and scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction, and Highway Maintenance.

What You Will Do

Receive a thorough introduction to the three core civil engineering disciplines.

Work alongside ODOT professional engineers.

Receive hands‑on transportation training and experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Accepted for the Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by the Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.

Employment Conditions

Position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one‑year probationary period.

Position will be filled pursuant to the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

Applicants will undergo a criminal background check; a prior conviction may exclude consideration.
