Job Summary
A highly motivated individual Research Area Specialist Associate is sought to join the Zhang Lab at the University of Michigan Medical School to provide ongoing computational assistance for ongoing research projects in Dr. Zhang's lab. The laboratory synthesizes evolutionary, genomic, and computational approaches to study fundamental questions related to admixture and natural selection in population genetics and how it has shaped human genetic diversity and health.
Responsibilities
The selected applicant will assist Dr. Zhang's team to develop a machine learning pipeline for detecting adaptive introgression.
Independently write, document, and share code including custom scripts to develop a machine learning pipeline
Data analysis using a variety of software programs, and preparation of data for presentation
Participate and report work progress during lab meetings
Participate in lab journal clubs
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics, or human genetics
1 year of biostatistics or research experience
Proficient level of Python, R, and Bash scripting
Experience analyzing research data and preparing data for presentations
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
2 years of biostatistics or research experience
Machine Learning knowledge and prior experience

Modes of Work
