General Summary:
This full-time teacher will teach two half-day sessions of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Literacy in Spanish. The teacher will team with an English‑speaking teacher, who will teach Language Arts in English, to provide instruction for two classes of students. This is a school level position with the principal as supervisor. The teacher, though, will be expected to collaborate with district personnel on the program.
Essential Functions
Fully commits to moving the district mission forward
Participates in professional development and instructional coaching
Collaborates with English partner teacher and commits to Professional Learning Collaboration team
Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education and State and Federal Law
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable procedures and rules of behavior in the classroom and maintains order in a fair and just manner
Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual
Assesses student learning and prepares data as needed
Develops lesson plans for second language learners
Utilizes dual immersion guidelines, strategies, and curriculum maps
Accommodates visitors to the classroom
Meets with parents from both classes for Parent/Teacher Conferences
Qualifications
Candidates have to complete OPI language test in target language and score Advanced Mid
Indiana Teaching License required
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
English proficiency
ESL endorsement preferred
World Language Endorsement preferred
Previous teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology and instructional media tools
Length of Contract:
185 days
