Job Description
Job Summary/Purpose:
To facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Duties/Responsibilities
Facilitate student achievement. Examples of work performed: meets and instructs assigned classes, plans program of study to meet students’ needs, creates a conducive classroom environment, prepares lesson plans, guides learning toward curriculum goals, employs a variety of instructional techniques, encourages good classroom behavior.
Monitors student achievement. Examples of work performed: assesses accomplishments and provides progress reports, diagnoses learning disabilities, maintains accurate records, provides availability to students and parents outside instructional day as required.
Perform other duties as assigned or required. Examples of work: implements district’s philosophy of education, takes precautions to protect students and facilities, assists administration in implementing policies, supervises aides and volunteers, maintains professional competence, attends staff meetings and serves on committees.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree and a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans.
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publisher, and database management.
Able to work effectively with colleagues, parents, administrators, etc.
Superior interpersonal skills to facilitate an excellent educational experience in a high‑energy/stress environment.
Discretion and confidentiality with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self‑directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
Physical Demands
Requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision: close, distance, adjust/focus, depth perception. Hearing: normal conversation, phone conversation, isolating voices.
Work Environment / Conditions
Classroom environment majority of the time; requires working outdoors for a small portion of the day.
Equipment / Materials Used
Personal computer, copier, fax, 10‑key calculator.
