
Senior Ultrasound Technologist

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide patient care in the Westwood and Santa Monica region, primarily in the Westwood Campus area, for inpatient and outpatient settings. Participate in on-call, holiday, weekend, and rotating shifts as prepared by the manager. Shift length is 10 hrs per day, 4 days per week.
In this role, you will:
Provide age‑appropriate assessment and interventions to meet the needs of patients and families served.
Obtain, evaluate, and use information from patient requisition, medical records, and referring physician and correlate with acquired images.
Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology.
Use independent judgement to produce diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems for referring providers and interpreting physicians.
Extend courtesy to patients, family members, visitors, and co‑workers through our “World Class Practices” Service Standards.
Internal applicants will transfer at their current career ladder level.
Staff Sonographer:
One to two years experience within the hospital/acute care setting.
Must maintain active RDMS certification in one specialty, e.g., Abdomen or OB‑GYN.
Graduate of a CAAHAP‑accredited ultrasound program is strongly preferred.
Salary Range: $58.74 – $77.50 per hour.
Senior Sonographer (Advancement into Senior Sonographer job classification can be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health):
Minimum of four years of prior experience within the hospital/acute care setting.
Must maintain active RDMS certification in three specialties: Abdomen, OB‑GYN, and RVT.
Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn, Pediatric, and Vascular Sonography; additionally, proficiency in interventional procedures.
Graduate of a CAAHAP‑accredited ultrasound school is strongly preferred.
Salary Range: $65.55 – $79.93 per hour.
Salary Range (Staff through Senior): $58.74 – $79.93 per hour.

RDMS credential in one specialty (Abdomen or OBGYN) – required.
Senior Ultrasound Technologist:
4 years of prior acute care (hospital) experience – required; advancement into Senior job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health.
RDMS credential in Abdomen, OBGYN, and RVT – required.
General Requirements:
BLS/CPR Certificate – required.
Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program – strongly preferred.
AAS or higher in Medical Sonography – preferred.
RDMS (AB or OBGYN) – minimum requirement.
Advanced skills in Vascular and/or MSK ultrasound – preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff, and others in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately.
Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks to completion within allotted time.
Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS information systems.
Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses.
