Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Nursing Instructor – Nursing Retention Specialist position within the Health and Public Safety Technologies Division of the Academic and Student Affairs Department. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Responsibilities

Design and implement programs to help assist students with navigating their college environment, nursing criteria, by maximizing their resources to successfully reach college graduation.

Help students create a structured and collaborative approach to support academic progress by identifying strengths and weaknesses, developing, and strengthening time-management and organizational skills.

Refer students to other services on campus and off-campus such as academic advising, counseling, career services, tutoring and other resources to support the students’ personal needs.

Assist students with identifying and navigating obstacles that may interfere with their academic success.

Monitor progress of students in caseload with early alerts, check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, responding to students’ questions, concerns, and needs.

Conduct academic coaching through individual or group sessions that help students assess their own performance and develop academic success plans.

Assist students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success; works with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivates students to practice self-regulation and take ownership.

Collaborate with on-campus departments to assure students receive the support they need related to financial aid, orientation, academic advising, tutoring, career counseling, and other support programs.

Develops, implements, coordinates, and tracks intervention strategies that enhance student success, as well as provides qualitative and quantitative reports.

Maintain classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

Attend meetings as required.

Observe and enforce the institution’s policies and regulations.

Assist with student recruitment and job placement.

Serve on committees.

Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.

Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

Assist in the development of reports and other requirements for the Georgia Board of Nursing.

Perform additional duties, as assigned.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing (MSN).

Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ga.

Three (3) years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care, OB, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical, and/or emergency or trauma conditions.

Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS provider.

Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.

Familiarity with NextGen NCLEX, ATI, undergraduate nursing curriculums.

Three (3) years’ experience in student development programs, academic advising or related educational service programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Education (PhD, DNP, EdD).

Credentials, education and four (4) or more years of full-time work experience in medical surgical nursing, acute patient care, OB, pediatrics, or emergency.

Minimum of one (1) year full-time teaching in an Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Work Schedule
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends, weekdays, or evenings).
