The
Solar Farm Technician Associate
monitors the solar and BESS power plant’s availability and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed when necessary to maintain established safety and operating targets. Responsible for executing daily scheduling philosophy, utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by planning, with a focus on maximizing generation and ensuring proactive work is prioritized and completed.
Role Responsibilities
Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV /BESS electrical equipment
Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and in accordance with site operating procedures established for Storage PV sites
Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner
Proactively look for improvement opportunities in job-appropriate processes and procedures
Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements
Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required
Perform maintenance on trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead
Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
Perform current and voltage readings as necessary
Document all work and generate reports as necessary
Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
At times, may assist with BOP activities
Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions
Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols
Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities
Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, and resolution of O&M issues
All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements and Experiences
A High School diploma or equivalent is required
An Associate degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited US school, other than correspondence or internet, is preferred
An unrestricted driver's license in good standing is required
A minimum of 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar
Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, substations maintenance, and power plant safety protocols
Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
Ability to work within tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Frequent oral and written communications
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
First aid/CPR/AED
OSHA Certified
Physical Requirements
Work in extreme weather conditions
Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
This position is a combined field and office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations
