Job Overview
The Psychology Faculty teaches assigned courses within the Social Science Department at Southwestern Michigan College. The instructor will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of a selection of courses in the department. The position involves teaching Psychology courses delivered face‑to‑face in the morning and daytime at the Niles and Dowagiac campuses, as well as through dual‑enrollment programs at local high schools.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in Psychology.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Psychology or a related field.
Previous college teaching experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct high-quality face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online program courses.
Design, develop, and implement select Psychology course content within established course guidelines and the college’s quality principles.
Maintain current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the courses and programs.
Assist in the development, maintenance, and assessment of the Psychology program(s); recommend curricular changes as necessary.
Fulfill academic responsibilities as outlined in the CBA.
Maintain rigor and relevance of program content and assure compliance/alignment with various partners and stakeholders.
Utilize active and collaborative learning strategies and a variety of other pedagogies to engage learners.
Maintain standing in the subject matter by remaining current and connected to the industry and field.
Demonstrate a deep commitment to every student’s success.
Mentor Psychology Department adjunct faculty.
