Lloyd's Register Marine and Offshore provides a wide range of services to industry worldwide, including design verification, independent analysis, and consultancy in naval architecture, structures, pipelines, geotechnics, safety, and mechanical engineering.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Structural Specialist to join our LR Mumbai office and report to the Fixed Structures Team Leader based in the UK.

The Role
Undertake design appraisal activities for offshore structures, including fixed, near‑shore and floating steel structures for new builds and in‑service projects, ensuring compliance with applicable rules, codes, regulations, standards and specifications within agreed parameters including budget and contractual requirements.
Carry out independent modelling and analysis using standard FEA packages such as SACS, STAAD, USFOS, etc.
Develop and transfer technical knowledge to other employees.
Contribute to bids and tenders for offshore design appraisal projects.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
Participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development.
Assist in developing technical guidance notes and technical papers for seminars and conferences; coordinate technology development projects within LR.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in the design of steel structures in an offshore environment, with comprehensive experience in designing and analysing offshore and onshore structures.
Good understanding of nonlinear analysis of offshore structures.
Knowledge of international regulatory regimes pertaining to offshore design and operation.
Experience in analysis and design of steel structures to international codes and standards (e.g. ISO, AISC, Eurocode).
Proficiency with engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SACS, USFOS, ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc., and ability to interpret output.
Effective written and spoken English and German communication skills, with the ability to prepare, discuss and present deliverables to senior clients.
Strong communication, technical report writing, ability to meet tight deadlines, and adaptability.
General Requirements
Preferably a Chartered Engineer and member of a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE, IMAREST) or working toward membership.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Prior experience with reputable engineering contractors or consultants is desirable.
