General Summary

The Accounting Analyst supports the Finance Department by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, compliance, and timeliness of financial data across the organization. This position addresses tight deadlines and is responsible for a multitude of accounting activities including, but not limited to, general ledger maintenance, journal entry review, month and year end closes, financial and operational report review and issuance, variance analysis, payroll review and oversight, and audit assistance.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
2+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis roles
Must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
Must be extremely detail oriented and have a problem‑solving attitude
Strong analytical thinking skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi‑task, prioritize work, work under pressure, and meet deadlines required
Working Conditions

Carrying up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
Withstands pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures accuracy of financial transactions by monitoring general ledger to ensure that transactions are properly recorded; recording and reviewing journal entries; overseeing reconciliations, and providing guidance on proper accounting treatment of transactions and issues, ensuring adequate supporting documentation is maintained.
Completes monthly and yearly close processes, ensuring general ledger accounts are reconciled and appropriate supporting documentation exists to conduct analysis.
Prepares accurate and timely monthly financial statements and other management reports (cost center reporting, departmental budget reporting, etc.).
Provides oversight and review of biweekly payroll, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accurate submission of employee pay data.
Assists with budget variance analysis and reporting.
Assists with treasury functions and monitors funding needs based on cash flow activity.
Provides assistance in preparation for and during annual audits.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
Researches and applies accounting standards and legislation applicable to the organization.
Assesses and improves accounting processes and procedures.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Performs other duties as assigned.
