Job Summary
The Lead Industrial Hygienist is responsible for managing and directing a team of hygienists to deliver comprehensive industrial hygiene support for a large-scale project. This role ensures all IH requirements are integrated into project planning, design, construction, and operations, maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Work requires physical ability for field inspections, including walking on construction sites in extreme heat or humidity, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights or on uneven surfaces, and entering confined spaces. Must be able to wear assigned PPE (e.g., harness, life vest, gloves, etc.).

Major Responsibilities

Serve as the primary IH leadership interface with the client, supporting audits, governance reviews, and risk-based decision making.

Establish, monitor, and enforce IH requirements for subcontractors, including onboarding, field verification, corrective actions, and escalation.

Lead, mentor, and supervise junior industrial hygienists, ensuring effective team performance and professional development.

Lead IH risk management associated with hazardous chemicals, high purity systems, cleanroom interfaces, and simultaneous construction and owner activities typical of semiconductor fabrication facilities.

Develop, implement, and oversee industrial hygiene plans, procedures, and methodologies tailored to project needs.

Advise project leadership on IH related risks and trade offs, influencing planning and execution decisions in high-pressure environments.

Integrate IH requirements into all phases of the project, including planning, design, construction, and subcontractor management.

Conduct risk assessments, inspections, sampling, and monitoring to identify hazards and verify compliance.

Provide technical guidance and support for IH studies, emergency response, and incident investigations.

Prepare and deliver clear documentation, reports, and training for project teams and stakeholders.

Collaborate with ESH teams and other project groups to resolve issues and ensure alignment with broader safety and health objectives.

Participate in meetings, as required, with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of industrial hygiene requirements that may affect their work.

Help track IH performance and trends, prepare reports, and enter data in the Industrial Hygiene Records System (IHRS).

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene with at least 2 years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated experience leading IH teams and managing IH programs on large projects.

Experience supporting semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex high technology construction projects is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at senior leadership and client levels.

Strong analytical skills related to IH sampling, communication, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to lead IH programs through evolving scope, schedule pressure, and organizational change.

Ability to work in field environments and support various work shifts.

Valid driver’s license.

Additional Qualifications

Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management System standards.

Experience in sectors beyond construction (e.g., manufacturing, energy, technology) to bring best practices from diverse environments.

Professional certification (e.g., ASP, OHST, CSP, CIH) or progress toward certification is highly desirable.

Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities.
