Position Overview
The School Resource Officer serves as a law enforcement presence in schools while building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. This role combines law enforcement duties with mentorship and education to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
Essential Functions
Provide law enforcement services on school grounds and adjacent areas.
Investigate criminal incidents and enforce state/local laws.
Collaborate with school administrators on safety and crisis planning.
Prevent juvenile delinquency through engagement and relationship-building.
Assist in emergency situations and maintain security during searches.
Participate in school functions and be a visible, approachable presence.
Deliver law-related education and support faculty in safety training.
Work with counselors and staff to assist students in need of services.
Minimum Qualifications
APOST certification required.
Strong communication skills with professionalism and sound judgment.
Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Ability to serve as a positive role model and maintain community trust.
