Job Summary
As the Deli Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the deli manager to oversee the daily operations of the deli department. Your role involves supervising deli staff, ensuring quality and freshness in deli offerings, and providing excellent customer service. Duties
Assist the deli manager in supervising and training deli associates, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management.
Oversee the production and presentation of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, and hot entrees.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health codes, including proper handling and storage of deli products.
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain stock levels and meet customer demand.
Assist customers with product inquiries, provide recommendations, and address any concerns or complaints.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the deli department, including food prep areas, display cases, and storage areas.
Collaborate with the deli manager to develop and implement strategies to drive sales and increase profitability in the deli department.
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including preparing and cleaning equipment.
Knowledge
Understanding of food safety regulations and guidelines for food preparation and handling.
Knowledge of deli products and offerings, including different types of meats, cheeses, and prepared foods.
Familiarity with inventory management and ordering procedures.
Skills
Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and customers.
Culinary Skills: Proficiency in food preparation techniques and recipe development.
Organization: Skill in managing tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
