
IT Support Specialist

Responsibilities & Duties
Provide IT support to employees, managers, contractors and network users
Attend to end-user issues in person for office and mills
Respond timely to questions sent via e-mail or phone
Install and maintain programs and updates
Troubleshoot Windows, network, hardware and all IT-related issues
Setup, configure and maintain computers, laptops, printers and other IT equipment
Manage user accounts, access and permissions
Conduct basic IT training for end users
Create and delete user accounts according to policies
Communicate professionally with employees, Corporate IT, contractors and vendors
Assist contractors with use of company networks, software and hardware
Contact service vendors to schedule required service
Assist IT Manager with projects/initiatives as needed
Respond to internal and external audit requests
Continually expand knowledge of SSC, its departments and the steel business
Provide off-hours technical support as needed
Cover some IT Manager job duties during planned and unplanned absences
Report to work as scheduled
Follow all related SJP and safety rules
Adhere to all policies
Familiarize self with SSC Admin Offices, Rod Mill & Melt Shop in order to safely travel independently to any area when required
All other duties as assigned
Experience/Education/Skill/Knowledge
3+ years of related experience including troubleshooting hardware and software issues
Prior work in a heavy industrial setting helpful
Degree or certificate in computer science field preferred
Willing and able to learn quickly, retain and apply new information
Possess training skills to work with employees in all areas of the workforce
Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Enthusiastic and self-motivated approach to work
Positive, outgoing customer-service oriented personality
Ability to effectively read, write, understand and otherwise communicate in English
Strong knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows, Office products, networking and PC hardware required
Physical Demands
Mobility to move to any area of Rod Mill & Melt Shop and administrative offices, including safely traversing up and down stairs
Spending approximately 30% of time in extreme hot and cold temperatures wearing required PPE
Able to sit for long periods of time in office setting
Dexterity to type on keyboard and operate necessary tools/machinery
Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system

Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
