Role Summary
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Specialty Lines (Kidnap & Ransom) team at Marsh. This role will be based in New York City and Bethesda. It is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office.
Responsibilities
Underwrite and manage a national portfolio of new and renewal Kidnap & Ransom business
Meet or exceed production, retention, and profitability targets
Drive profitable growth through disciplined risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management strategies
Prepare and present underwriting referrals with supporting analysis to internal and external stakeholders
Negotiate terms and conditions using approved underwriting guidelines and rating methodologies
Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with broker partners to enhance visibility and market share
Qualifications
10+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong preference for Kidnap & Ransom, Political Risk, or Specialty Lines
Proven track record of managing and growing a profitable underwriting portfolioStrong technical underwriting, risk assessment, and pricing skills
Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority

Experience mentoring or leading junior team members
Excellent communication, relationship management, and presentation skills
Benefits
The applicable base salary range for this role is $88,200 to $187,900. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives. We offer a competitive total rewards package which includes health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings and other retirement programs, and employee assistance programs.
