Job Summary
To prepare multi-engine aircraft mechanically for flight test and delivery to customer. Flight Mechanic B may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Flight Mechanic C.
Job Responsibilities
Perform a variety of functional test and mechanical operations on one or more aircraft models, involving determination of malfunctions and required disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly or adjustment of various multi-engine aircraft systems to prepare the aircraft mechanically for flight test and delivery to customer. May perform under the general guidance of a Flight Mechanic A. Works from blueprints, routers, specifications, check lists, and general instructions to perform the following primary duties:
Installs, as required, a variety of line shortage items which may involve disassembly and reassembly of previously installed items.
Performs functional checks of all mechanical systems such as engines and flight controls, fuel, oxygen and hydraulic systems making necessary corrections and adjusting for flight.
Sets instruments, tests run engines, rigs and synchronizes throttles and sets stops.
Works flight test and inspection squawks making necessary adjustments or corrections.
Assists Flight Mechanic A with unusual and more difficult flight line problems.
Maintains clean working area.
Required to taxi aircraft to check systems and components.
Uses a variety of mechanic hand tools and equipment such as tensiometers, timing lights, scales and pressure gauges.
May be assisted by 1-2 lower classification mechanics and be responsible for guiding and instructing them.
Responsible for quality of own work.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Must have equivalent trades training for ability to use simple arithmetic, blueprints, specifications, check lists, measuring instruments, testing devices and follow general instructions. Must have knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and components. A & P license preferred.
Experience
Requires a minimum of 3 years diversified jet, turboprop or piston mod, phase inspection, engine troubleshooting experience or servicing experience under the guidance of a licensed A & P or at an FAA certified repair station.
Working Conditions
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to non-continuous exposure to noise, weather, hydraulic fluid, MEK, alcohol and other liquids.
