
REGISTERED NURSE CHARGE MEDICAL

Main Purpose of Job
This position will provide onsite professional nursing services to adolescent male population incarcerated in Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) youth centers in Allegany and Garrett County. It will provide medical direction to DJS staff within guidelines of the Nursing Practice Act, DJS standards, and Adolescent guidelines. It will provide health care services to youth and serve as the delegating RN to the Certified Medication Technicians under Board of Nursing regulations. It will document all medical services/care performed for clinic and camp files. It will use PatTrac to enter activities for medical services and provide 24/7 on‑call phone coverage for the youth centers. Centers are in remote, rustic, wooded areas of Allegany and Garrett Counties; travel on snow‑covered roads will be required in winter.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must meet the Maryland State Board of Nursing licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience: Two years as a Registered Nurse, including at least one year in the medical option.
Substitutions: Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field for one year of general experience, a Master’s degree for the required experience, or U.S. Armed Forces military service in nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Licensing, Registrations and Certifications
Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi‑state license in a state declared as primary residence.
Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license if duties require operating an automobile.
Successful completion and maintenance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.

Subject to substance abuse testing per Code of Maryland Regulations.
