Job Description
Maintains supplies and equipment for patient care and ensures equipment is in good working condition, performing basic troubleshooting and calling in service tickets when repairs are required. Uses appropriate activation procedures and informs the physician and/or supervisor of changes in the patient’s condition or abnormalities on the recording. Executes procedures according to ACNS guidelines and department policy. Prepares patients for testing using the International 10-20 system of measurement and hookup. Ensures and maintains patient safety at all times. Performs quality recordings by accurately entering patient and study demographic information, collecting pertinent patient history, properly preparing the patient, conducting the examination, and preparing the recording for physician interpretation. Interacts with patients and family members in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner following service standards. Accurately documents and charges for procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital. Actively supports and contributes to department and hospital quality improvement initiatives and proactively initiates process improvement ideas. Communicates and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality patient care and keeps the supervisor informed, seeking assistance and direction when confronted with unfamiliar procedures and techniques. Attends monthly staff meetings, record review sessions, and other meetings as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledgeable and practiced in 10‑20 system of measurement. [Required]

General knowledge of EEG procedures and equipment. [Required]

Ability to observe EEG tracings and respond appropriately to abnormalities/seizure activity. [Required]

Ability to recognize artifact and reapply or replace appropriate electrode(s). [Required]

Ability to function independently with minimal supervision. [Required]

Ability to communicate effectively. [Required]

Excellent customer service skills. [Required]

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. [Required]

Education

High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study



Work Experience

1+ year of experience in neurodiagnostics, or completion of a formal on‑the‑job training program or completion of at least 50% of courses and meets department expectations or graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostics program [Required]

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
