Job Summary

DES is looking for individuals who are committed to service, community, and teamwork. This position is responsible for continually adapting to stay ahead of cyber attackers. The analyst plans and carries out security measures to protect the organization’s computer networks and systems. The analyst must stay up-to-date on the latest methods attackers use to infiltrate computer systems and on IT security, and research new security technology to determine the most effective protection. The position may offer remote work within Arizona based upon the department’s needs and performance measures. The state of Arizona values flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across agencies, employees can participate in the Remote Work Program and work remotely within Arizona unless an exception is authorized in advance.
Job Duties
Assist in developing an automated framework for security tool deployment, vulnerability scanning and development, leveraging scripting languages and open-source solutions. Monitor the organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate a violation when one occurs.
Install and use data encryption programs to protect sensitive information. Prepare reports that document security breaches and the extent of the damage caused.
Research the latest IT security trends. Utilize Tenable I/O, Tenable SC, Qualys, and Risk Sense, and use ticketing systems such as Remedy, Service Desk, and Cherwell.
Help computer users install or learn about new security products and procedures. Assist in documenting application and cloud services in a system security plan, and work closely with product and platform teams to implement application and cloud security controls.
Help plan and carry out the organization’s security handling. Develop security standards and best practices and recommend enhancements to management or senior IT staff.
Review and examine contracts of organizations in federally funded programs; verify compliance with laws and regulations; determine actions and plans. May provide testimony at formal or informal hearings.
Review products or achievements of co‑workers; evaluate work and formulate improvement plans. Advise co‑workers in proper use of complex systems and counsel them in carrying out diverse tasks.

Knowledge of security regulations and standards.
Knowledge of information security technologies in risk assessment, compliance, and vulnerability management.
Knowledge of information event management (SIEM).

Ability to administer information security software and controls.
Ability to analyze security system logs and data.
Ability to discover vulnerabilities in information systems.
Ability to prevent hacker intrusion.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
Driver’s license requirements for driving or vehicle use as an essential function.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the process.
Complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
Obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card.
Associate’s degree or 1–3 years of experience in information security analysis (or equivalent).
