Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to support and maintain cloud‑based and on‑premise database environments within a SaaS‑focused ecosystem. This role is primarily administration‑focused (approximately 90% DBA responsibilities) with an emphasis on PostgreSQL and AWS data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL expertise, experience in performance tuning, and the ability to manage multiple database systems in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates aligned to the Eastern Time Zone, and may require occasional after‑hours support.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and support production, non‑production, and high‑availability database environments across cloud and on‑prem platforms

Perform PostgreSQL database administration, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching

Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource utilization

Develop and maintain backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability

Implement and enforce database security, access controls, and compliance standards

Write and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions across OLTP and analytical systems

Support data migration and integration efforts using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Glue

Review database design and recommend improvements for scalability, reliability, and performance

Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to resolve issues and improve systems

Contribute to database strategy, standards, and best practices across the organization

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of hands‑on database administration experience

Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning

Advanced SQL skills, including scripting, query optimization, and troubleshooting

Experience with AWS database services, including Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL), Amazon RDS, and Amazon Redshift

Hands‑on experience with AWS Glue and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)

Understanding of data warehouse concepts and access control/security models

Experience monitoring database health, performance, and availability

Preferred Qualifications

Database certifications (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)

Exposure to Oracle database environments

Experience with AWS Lake Formation and data lake architectures

Familiarity with SaaS‑based environments and distributed systems

Additional Skills & Requirements

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Ability to travel up to 5% if required
