COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Required Qualifications

Valid appropriate Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with endorsements in Mathematics.

Satisfactory evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of, experience in, teaching high school students.

Knowledge of, experience in, or willingness, to be trained to use other computer software programs (Access, Excel, STAR, etc.) to track student math progress.

Willingness to participate in training in integrating curriculum, and to implement integration, in the classroom.

Knowledge of and experience in motivating reluctant learners and students deficient in math skills.

Experience and skills in coordinating among numerous math teachers and tracking the progress of students in those math courses.

Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for grading, recording attendance, word processing, spreadsheets, power point, communicating with e‑mail and incorporating these computer programs into daily use in the classroom.

Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels in areas of secondary math.

Evidence of providing for student individual learning styles (basic levels and extension beyond basics).

Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.

Evidence of awareness of the current changes affecting mathematics education, particularly with Washington State Learning Standards.

Participation in professional activities related to mathematics education.

Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Responsibilities

Teach high school math courses of various levels.

Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.

Create an atmosphere where cultural diversity is a strength and have the attitude that we will meet the needs of any child who enters our school.

Work in a context with multicultural and at‑risk students.

Work positively and constructively in a changing school environment, which is focusing on improving student learning.

Incorporate technology into the instructional process.

Be a “team” player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.

Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.

Be committed to success for all students.

Participate in workshops and training sessions that support the building vision and guiding beliefs.

Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
